Kate Caie

Kate Caie is our artist in residence from 8th-19th July. She has travelled from New Zealand to examine the idea of 'Hireth' a Cornish word for which there is no direct English translation. It describes an intangible feeling, a longing for the familiarity and comfort of a place.

"My work draws on the relationship between memory, loss and the need to seek comfort through the process of knitting and the creation of garments. Longing and nostalgia are narrative threads throughout.
My installations examine thoughts, emotions and perceptions through the rhythm and repetition of knitting."

Kate will be exhibiting work made during her residency, with an opening on Thursday 18th July from 6.30pm.
