Yoon Kim

Sep 19 - Oct 14

During a residency in Austria in 2016 Yoon visited the Natural History Museum in Vienna and became fascinated by mineral samples - how their crystalline internal geometries formed determining their physical properties in a way that felt fundamental to understanding time and process. Using minerals lead to an interest in geology and deep time, and its relationship with human activity.

Penryn is situated in a geologically interesting location - Yoon studied geology and the mining history of Cornwall (granite and tin) and made a collection of found and made objects inspired by the region.
